Klisurski Monastery “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” is situated at the foot of the Balkan mountains peak Todorini Kukli, at 9 km from Berkovitsa.
It was founded in the first half of the XIIIth century and was then called Vreshtitski monastery because of its location in the valley of the river Vreshtitsa. During the long years of its existence, the monastery has been demolished, plundered and restored several times.
In the middle of the XIXth century the holy abode was restored with the donations of the local people. At that time was built the temple “St. St. Cyril and Methodius “. The Klisurski Monastery is one of the centers for the development of the Bulgarian education and literature and for the establishment of the Christian religion.
In the yard of the monastery complex you will find a holy spring, the water of which is considered to be healing. Here you can find accommodation and in the main temple of the monastery you can buy information materials about its history.
