About this sight

Welcome to Vratsata area!
Vratzata Pass, called Vtatitsa in the Middle Ages is a symbol of the town of Vratsa and is related to the name of the city. It is declared a natural landmark and covers an area of 2 hectares. The road to Ledenika cave, the tourist complex with the same name, Parshevitsa chalet and the village of Zgorigrad pass through it.
The pass represents a gorge of the Leva River and is a rare and impressive rock massif. The vertical rocks of Vratsata are the highest on the Balkan Peninsula – over 400 m and are the most popular alpinist site in Bulgaria. There are over 140 alpine routes with different difficulty categories, some of which are emblematic for Bulgarian alpinism – such as the “Mirrors”, “Second Congress”, “Vinkela”, “Dog’s Tooth”, etc.
In the gorge are preserved the remains of the medieval fortress Vratitsa from X-XII century.
