Welcome to Botev Park in Kozloduy!
The Botev Park was established at the site where, in May 1876, the Bulgarian revolutionary Hristo Botev and his detachment crossed the Danube River and descended from the Radetski Ship on the native land. From here they walked their way to Okolchitsa peak in the Vratsa Balkan where they are heroically killed in the struggle for the liberation of Bulgaria from the Ottoman rule.
In 1936 in memory of Botev and his detachment was erected a high stone obelisk with the inscription “He will not die”.
In the park you can find relaxation in the rest areas or walk along the eco-path which is marked with appropriate signs. From here starts the 120-kilometer alley along the way of Botev’s detachment to Okolchitsa peak in the Vratsa Balkan.
Come and discover Botev Park and the monument of Hristo Botev and his detachment!
