The Belogradchik Fortress is an architectural pearl, uniquely combining the natural features of the Belogradchik rocks and the human genius. It is declared a monument of culture of national importance.
The construction of Kaleto (The Fortress) is associated with the Roman Empire, the second Bulgarian state and the Ottoman period. For the last time the fortress was used for military action in 1885 in the Serbian-Bulgarian War.
Today Kaleto is a nice place for walks revealing unique views. There are many walking routes around ending with a visit to the Belogradchik Rocks.
The Belogradchik fortress hosts an open concert hall with a rich cultural programme, pleasant shops for souvenirs, local wines and food.
In Belogradchik and the neighboring villages you will find a variety of accommodation and generous hospitality.
