Welcome to Chuprene Municipality!
Chuprene is a village in Vidin district and center of municipality of the same name. The village has a rich history and most preserved nature. It is situated in the western Balkan mountains, and is near the peak of Midzhur, which is an area offering exceptional opportunities for hiking in nature. At the outskirts of the village there is the entrance to the Chuprene Biosphere Reserve. In the center of the village are the main attractions – the bell tower with the clock and the church.
In the village of Varbovo you will find the church “St. John the Baptist”, which according to the available data is from the end of the XVth century. The interior of the church is remarkable, as well as the picturesque decoration of the temple done in middle of the XVIIth century is also of particular artistic value.
In the village of Replyana there is another temple – “St. Martyr George The Victorious”. In the whole area of Vidin there are many votive offering crosses, which are a special cultural landmark.
The Municipality of Chuprene offers eco-trails, hunting tourism as well as local festivals, the most famous of which is the folk gathering “Kada kum prase i ti vrechu”, the village fair and the Festival of the Forest.
