The Giurgiu County Museum bears the name of the first Romanian archaeologist, Teohari Antonescu, but born in Giurgiu. The building currently hosting the museum is a historical monument and was built in 1903. The head office of the Giurgiu Prefecture was located here until 1950. As of 1977, this building hosts the museum.A special place is devoted to the age of Michael the Brave, whose victories in the battles of 1595 made these places famous in Europe.
