Adamclisi is the settlement with the largest Roman archaeological load in Romania.The Traiani Fortress was founded by Emperor Trajan on the place of an older Getic settlement. From the beginning, it was assigned a municipality. The hill hosts a Monument built by the Emperor for his victory against the Getae in 102. Another site included in the Adamclisi Complex is the Archaeology Museum located in the centre of the settlement. The museum hosts the original items of the Victory Monument, as well as items discovered in the fortress by archaeological investigations.
