The Castrum of Racarii de Jos is one of the most important archaeological sites of Oltenia included in the National Archaeological Repository as a military centre or castrum. The archaeological excavations revealed important items such as a rich repository of ceramics, tiles and bricks, glassware, military equipment, weapons, fragments of statues, bronze coins, iron sludges, gold coins, fibulae and so on. The retrieved bricks are stamped with the abbreviated name of the military unit of the Roman castrum, Numerus Maurorum.
