The Vadastra culture is one of the most interesting neolithical cultures of the Balkans. It has not been researched extensively and many issues are still pending regarding its origin, periods and evolution. A single potter keeping the tradition of Vadastra ceramics still lives in Vadastra. Ion Cococi creates replicas of neolithic ceramics, by means of an archaic technique, raising clay dishware without a wheel, but by means of a thread. Thus, using a technique dating back to 5000 B.C. he creates Vadastra-type neolithical black ceramics today.
