The Jean Mihail Palace is perhaps the most beautiful palace of Oltenia, built for one of the richest people in the country at the beginning of the 19th century?. The building is a masterpiece by the French architect Paul Gottereau.
As of 1954, the Palace hosts the Art Museum that owns works by Romanian and foreign artists from the 16th to 20th centuries, as well as the Brancusi Cabinet, with six works of the great sculptor, classified by art historians as the first modern sculpture in the world.
