The building was designed in 1905 upon request of Madona Dudu Churchwarden, as the Central School for Girls, and operated as such until 1948, as one of the most prestigious schools in Romania.Today the building hosts the history and archaeology section of the Oltenia Museum with more than 20 collections of items such as coins, medals, documents, ceramics, weapons, adornments, manuscripts, old books, memorial objects and photographs.
