The Jitianu Monastery is located 8 km to the south of Craiova, in Podari. The first attestation of the establishment dates from the 15th century. The monastery was founded by the Craiovesti boyars. After 1939, the monastery was inhabited by nuns. They built the cells and established weaving, sewing and carpet workshops.
