The Sucidava Fortress, located south of Corabia, was a significant economic and military centre of the Dacian tribe Suci. After Dacia was conquered, a Roman military fortress was erected on the place of the former Dacian citadel in the 270sThe defence walls with eight fully unveiled towers of the late Roman town of Sucidava can still be seen.The foot of Constantine the Great’s bridge, built over the Danube during his reign, which connected to the Oescus fortress (currently in Bulgaria) also lies here.
