A religious settlement dedicated to the “Holy Voivodes” was erected on the place of a Roman village around 1588. In 1612 and 1718, the settlement was plundered by the Turks. 120 years after the establishment, the place was restored. An imposing bell-tower, was apparently also serving the purpose of observing the valley.
