The Mehedinti Plateau is a natural park between the Mehedinti Mountains and the Getic Piedmont. The Geopark may be described as a hilly area with low, sinuous heights, including crystalline schists dating back to the Jurassic. The most renowned sights of the Mehedinti Plateau Geopark are the Topolnitei and Epuran Caves, as well as the Lilac Forest and the Karst complex in Ponoarele.
